Live sessions are scheduled sessions that you can find in the Schedule tab of the "Program" page. Two different types of live sessions happen during an event:

  • Live Presenation

  • Conference Room

Live presentation page layout and options

A live presentation is a session, such as a presentation, panel discussion, or press release, with one or more speakers that all event participants can watch. You can watch a live presentation during the scheduled time for the live session, but it is also available to watch as a video-on-demand after the event closes.

Be part at a Live presentation

Once the stream of a "Main Stage" or a "Product Stage" is live, you have the following buttons for the stream itself:

  • The "play/pause" button allows you to start and stop the stream at any point. If you pause a stream and then continue it, the stream will continue from where you paused it.

  • You can then use the "Live" button to “catch up” to the live stream, skipping the part of the stream you missed while the video was paused.

  • The "sound off/on" button allows you to turn off the sound of the stream without pausing it.

  • The "fullscreen" button plays the stream in fullscreen mode, which you can exit by pressing the same button or the ESC key on your keyboard.

  • Finally, the "audio stream" button only shows if there is more than one sound stream available to viewers. For example, a presentation may have streams in different languages that viewers may choose from.

Watching the live stream as a video-on-demand after the event instead of watching it live removes the Live button, and instead, you get a time bar at the bottom of the video stream that shows you the timestamp.

In addition to the video stream itself, you may also find a sidebar on the right-hand side of the page. The sidebar has either a chat&poll or a http://sli.do Q&A feature. If the chat feature is used, you can use it to communicate with other viewers and ask the speakers questions during the session. Additionally, there is also a Participants tab, where you can see a list of participants that are currently on the live session page. Participants who have networking turned off are not displayed in this list.

If the http://sli.do Q&A feature is used, you may use it to ask questions to the speakers, and the speakers can then either answer the questions directly during the stream or answer to the http://sli.do question directly in the feature.

Under the live presentation, you can see the name of the stage, as well as the following options:

  • Download

  • Share

The download feature allows you to download the details of the session in the ICS format and then add it to a calendar.

The share feature allows you to let other participants know about the live session. Once you click on the "Share" button, a pop-up window opens. The pop-up window enables you to add participants you’d like to share this session with and enter a personalized note. When you click on the share button, the link to the session is sent via chat.

Using the "Bookmark" button, you add the session to your Appointments, and you can find it more easily later. Just below, you can see the date and time of the session.

Further below, you have the name and description of the session. You can see the logo and name of the exhibitor who is hosting the live session to the left of that.

Finally, at the bottom of the page, you can see the session speakers. You can either visit their personal profile page by clicking on them. Additionally, you can use the share and bookmark features by clicking on the respective buttons. Like with the session, the share feature allows you to let other participants know about the speaker. Once you click on the share button, a pop-up window opens. The pop-up window allows you to add participants you’d like to share this speaker with and enter a personalized note. When you click on the "Share" button, the link to the session is sent via chat. By bookmarking the speaker, you can easily find them again, and all their live sessions are added to your schedule.

Conference Room (small) layout and options

A small conference room is a scheduled and moderated video chat with a limited number of participants and restricted access. In addition to that, there are no external viewers, i.e., the session can’t be watched or recorded to be available as a video-on-demand later.

The small conference room page has a similar design to a live stream, except there is no live stream at the top. You can still see the name of the stage, as well as the following options:

  • Download

  • Share

  • Bookmark

The download feature allows you to download the details of the session in the ICS format and then add it to a calendar.

The share feature allows you to let other participants know about the live session. Once you click on the share button, a pop-up window opens. The pop-up window allows you to add participants you’d like to share this session with and enter a personalized note. When you click on the "Share" button, the link to the small conference room is sent via chat.

Using the Bookmark button, you add the small conference room to Appointments, and you can find it more easily later. Just below, you can see the date and time of the session.

Be part at a Conference Room (small)

A small conference room is available during the scheduled timeslot. Once it’s available, there is a "Request access" button at the bottom of the session page. When you click that button, the exhibitor that’s hosting the café will receive your request in their backoffice and either grant or refuse your request. If granted, you will then be able to enter the session and join the discussion via Video Chat. It’s important to note that although your access request may be granted, you may not access the video chat room if the room is at full capacity.
